Cheeseburger in a Can

I'm a big, big fan of burgers therefore I really hope that someone will bring this Canned Cheeseburger to Singapore so that I can buy one and try it myself to find out if the cheeseburger in the can really tastes as good as it looks in the picture. But seriously, how the hell does one canned a cheeseburger?!

Anybody wants Pork Faggots?

Found on Flickr, Mr Brain's Pork Faggots in a rich west country sauce. No, these balls are not from homosexual pigs! I know they still sound horrible but in reality they are much worse! I checked out Urban Dictionary and it says:
A somewhat disgusting ball of minced lard, gristle, fat, liver, intestine, and occasionally pork meat, preferably served in a "rich western country sauce". Although enjoyed by some, this pork delicacy - courtesy of meat producer "Mr. Brain's" - should probably be avoided.

Watch the choir performance that was banned by Singapore

It seems that in Singapore, foreigners are not allowed to complain about the country. The Media Development Authority (MDA) banned the live outdoor performance of the Complaints Choir of Singapore because it objected to the presence of six foreigners among the 50-member project. It says that the choir's song touched on domestic affairs - something that foreigners have no right to talk (or sing) about. Private indoor performances are still allowed though and the clip above is taken during one of those performances.

Lyrics here:

We get fined for almost everything
Drivers won’t ‘give chance’ when you want to ‘change lane’
The indoors are cold, the outdoors are hot;
And the humid air, it wrecks my hair
Those answering machines always make you hold
Only to hang up on you

When a pregnant lady gets on the train
Everyone pretends to be asleep
I’m stuck with my parents till I’m 35
Cause I can’t apply for HDB
We don’t recycle any plastic bags
But we purify our pee

*chorus:
What’s wrong with Singapore?
Losing always makes me feel so sore
Cause if you’re not the best
Then you’re just one of the rest

My oh my Singapore
What exactly are we voting for?
What’s not expressly permitted
is prohibited

“Ooh”

When I’m hungry at the food court, I see
People ‘chope’ seats with their tissue paper
To the aunty staying upstairs:
Your laundry’s dripping on my bed sheets
Please don’t squat on the toilet seats
And don’t clip your nails on MRT

Stray cats get into noisy affairs
At night my neighbor makes weird animal sounds
People put on fake accents to sound posh
And queue up 3 hours for donuts
Will I ever live till eighty five
to collect my CPF?

*chorus

Singaporeans too kiasu! (so scared to lose)
Singaporeans too kiasi! (so scared o die)
Singaporeans too kiabor!(scared of their wives)
Maybe we’re just too stressed out! (even the kids)

“Ooh”

Old National Library was replaced by an ugly tunnel
Singaporean men can’t take independent women
People blow their nose into the swimming pool
And fall asleep on my shoulder in the train

Singapore’s national bird is the crane (the one with yellow steel girders)
Real estate agents’ leaflets clogging up my mailbox (en bloc, en bloc; en bloc, en bloc)
Why can’t we be buried when we die?
No one wants to climb Bukit Timah with me

*chorus

“Ooh”

There are not enough public holidays
My neighbor sings KTV all night
Wedding dinners never start on time
My hair is always cut shorter than I want
Channel 5 commercials are way too long
Why do men turn bad?

*At first it was to speak more mandarin
Then it was to speak proper English
What’s wrong with my powderful Singlish?

People sit down during rock concerts
We have to pay for tap water at restaurants
ERP gantries are everywhere
But I can still see traffic jams on the road
All the bus stops have tilted benches to keep you off balance

*chorus

Scary ads by TODAY newspaper

P20-01-08_10.34

P20-01-08_10.41

I'm sure most of you may have seen these ads on TODAY newspaper recently. They are designed to attract recruiters to advertise on the free daily tabloid. I don't know about you but I think these ads are so damn scary that they could give anyone nightmares. Look at those oversized eyes. Are these companies recruiting normal human beings or alien-human hybrids? Crikey!

When Disney characters go wild

The Disneyland Memorial Orgy is the work of Mad artist Wally Wood back in 1967. I don't think Walt Disney would be too happy seeing this parody of his beloved characters gone wild in a mass orgy setting in the park. Oh well, go Goofy!

The Great Australian Roadtrip

Two Indian dudes spent 71 days riding their bikes on a roadtrip across the Australia continent. On their blog The Great Australia Road Trip, you can read about their day to day experiences. Below, I've included an excerpt from Day 9 of their roadtrip in which they traveled from Katoomba to Sydney, two of my favourite places down under:
We took the Bells line of road via Lithgow. The road was very beautiful but the rain marred the complete beauty and made us concentrate much more on the road ahead with slippery factors than we should have. The distance was short today and we hoped to arrive early in Sydney and meet up with Mick, Editor of AMCN. Fate had some other plans. We surely arrived at the outskirts of Sydney pretty early, around 12.30 Pm, but the city took us by surprise. Sydney had worse traffic than many Indian metropolitan cities. OK, the horns were not there, people werent shouting, but the traffic was slow as if it were following a snail. For an outsider Sydney would be really hard to traverse with all those one ways, tons of confusing road signs and traffic.

Warning: Satellite could crash to Earth!

Take cover! A satellite the size of a bus containing rocket fuel that is hazardous to humans could crash to Earth in the next few weeks. The scary part: It could land anywhere! I'm interested to know the odds of it hitting Singapore. From Telegraph:
It is understood that American politicians and world leaders are being kept abreast of the situation.

In response to the reports Gordon Johndroe, a spokesman for the National Security Council, said: "Appropriate government agencies are monitoring the situation.

"Numerous satellites over the years have come out of orbit and fallen harmlessly. We are looking at potential options to mitigate any possible damage this satellite may cause."

He refused to discuss specifics, such as whether the satellite might be destroyed with a missile. But such a move is considered unlikely by experts as it would create a rain of debris which could cause more widespread damage.

Hot NTU Assistant Professor

Meet Xu Rong. She's an Assistant Professor at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and judging from her photos posted on her blog and elsewhere, I think she is a gravure model wannabe. We're Brothers Forever

Everyone that I know is talking about Renaldo Lapuz's performance on American Idol. He sang his own song called We're Brothers Forever. I agree with Simon. This song is going to be a hit. Maybe it already is. The guy is definitely much better than William Hung and with a name like Renaldo, how can he not be a star aye. Expect a record deal for him soon.

Everyone!

"I am your brother
Your best friend forever
Singing the songs,
the music that you like.

We're brothers till the end of time
Together or not, you're always in my heart
Your hurt, your feelings, in you will reign no more."

Hamburger Dress

Somehow this Hamburger Dress by Joy Kampia is making me real hungry. She writes on her website, ""Because I enjoy the irony between subject matter and material, I have merged my favorite subject matter (food) with my favorite process (crochet)... By taking both food and crochet out of their ordinary settings, I hope to challenge the viewer's preconceived notions of their roles. And I hope it makes people hungry." It sure does Joy. It sure does. Yum.

The other Tom Cruise video the Church of Scientology doesn't want you to see

The Church of Scientology has been giving out Cease and Desist letters to sites like Gawker and YouTube for hosting a video of Tom Cruise talking about Scientology. The full video is still being hosted by Gawker here and you can still find copies of it on YouTube. In the video, Tom shows everyone why he and his favourite religion Scientology are both crazy. Here's part of the transcript:
We are the authorities in getting people off drugs. We are the authorities on the mind. We are the authorities on improving conditions. Criminals, we can rehabilitate criminals. Way to happiness, we can bring peace and unite cultures, uh, that once you know these tools and you know that they work, it’s not good enough that I’m just (doing okay?)...

It is the time now. Now is the time, okay? It is, being a Scientologist, people are turning to you, so you better know it. You better know it, and if you don’t, you know, go (sound deleted, appears to be “fucking”) learn it. (Laughs) You know? But don’t pretend you know it and, or whatever. It’s like, we’re here to help. (cut)

If you’re a Scientologist, you see life, you see things the way that they are. In all its glory, you know, all of its complexity. Uh, the more you know as a Scientologist, you don’t become overwhelmed by it. (cut)
Only Tom can make Scientology sound crazier than it already is. Anyway, watch the video above which is a mash up of the Tom Cruise Scientology video, a scene of Days of Thunder and a Will Smith interview! It's funny. Oh wait. Should I be even posting this on my blog? Hmmm. Hopefully the Scientologists and Tom won't come and get me for this. I really don't want Tom to jump on my couch. That's scary.

Putting an end to bad design

Thanks to the folks behind Design Police, now you can bring bad design to justice. Just download their Visual Enforcement Kit and then cut and paste the right labels to paste on a bad design that you see on the streets. It could be a poorly cut typeface or severe lack of creativity. No more bad design!

How to make a Samurai Cat

The world's most controversial boardgames

Deputydog lists the world's most controversial boardgames. The War On Terror game designed by 2 Cambridge entrepreneurs, is among the list: "Everyone starts with the best intentions. Then things start to get cramped. Then you notice your neighbour has more oil than you. Before long, war is waged, nukes are dropped, revolutions are fought and terrorists are doing your dirty work, before turning on you..." Sounds like fun.

Is Scrabble right to shut down Scrabulous?

The companies behind Scrabble have asked Facebook to shut down the popular Facebook appplication Scrabulous (you can also play it on its own website here) because it infringes their copyright. From BBC:
Scrabulous is currently one of Facebook's ten most popular applications - little programs that Facebook members can add to the profiles they maintain on the site.

The request to remove the add-on came from both Hasbro and Mattel because ownership of the Scrabble trademark is split between the two. Hasbro owns rights to the game in the US and Canada while Mattel has rights everywhere else in the world.

Facebook told the PA newswire that it had no comment to make at this stage.

The Scrabulous add-on was not created by Facebook but was built for the site by Rajat and Jayant Agarwalla - software developers based in Calcutta.
I have yet to play Scrabulous on my Facebook (really) but I'm sure it is as fun as playing the real Scrabble. Scrabulous is a very popular Facebook app with 603,014 daily active users. Instead of forcing the shutdown of Scrabulous, I think Mattel and Hasbro should have worked with the Scrabulous founders instead - either by asking them to make Scrabulous an official Scrabble entity or have Scrabble become the main sponsor for the app. Only after failing in those areas, should Mattel and Hasbro get their lawyers and sue the living daylights out of those two Indian founders. Scrabble has this big chance to get its product and branding across to these 603,014 users (and growing) on Facebook. By shutting down Scrabulous and angering all its thousands of users, it may have just lost this huge Facebook marketing opportunity. And that unfortunately is a bad business decision.

Why are clowns scary?

Are you afraid of clowns? Don't worry. You're not alone. BBC News Magazine finds out why those comic performers with colored wigs, stylistic makeup and outlandish costumes, are so scary to some. From BBC:
Prof Paul Salkovskis, clinical director of the Maudsley Hospital Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma, saw a patient in Yorkshire some years ago who feared clowns as one of a range of problems.

But he believes children's fear may be less to do with clowns per se and more to do with being unsettled by something as unusual-seeming as a clown.

"People are typically frightened by things which are wrong in some way, wrong in a disturbingly unfamiliar way," Prof Salkovskis says.

"It is almost certainly not a reaction to clowns, but we are sensitive to things which are extraordinary, particularly sensitive when we are young. My three-year-old was terrified by Peter Rabbit at a B&Q. Peter Rabbit is six inches high, not seven feet high."

Be careful when you buy used panties online

I've been receiving a sudden sharp increase in readership (in the thousands) since yesterday and someone told me it's because the New Paper ran a story about Pamela, the Singapore school girl who is selling her used bra and panties online. It seems that after the New Paper story, lots of people are searching the net about her and these people came to my blog to look for used panties. Hello, you perverts!

Anyway, for those of you who are really interested in buying used panties either from Pamela or from other sources, please watch the video above and take some precaution. You may never know where these panties really come from.

As for Pamela, some told me that she's not really a schoolgirl and that she's actually a guy. Crikey! I only know one thing. I must start selling my used boxers on my blog. You people must support by buying ok?

Transformers Beginnings

Transformers Beginnings is a prequel to the Transformers movie that tells the story of what happened before Optimus Prime and Megatron came to Earth. A pity it's only a semi-animated short film that looks like a cheap cut and paste job - they used the illustrations from the Transformers Movie prequel comic book series - but at least you can still hear the familiar voices of Optimus Prime and some characters from the actual movie. Also Megatron is voiced by Frank Welker, the dude who did the original Megatron voice in the old cartoon series.
